Is It Time To Clean Up Your Website’s Content?

No matter what kind of website you have, there’s content on it somewhere. Even if you only have short product descriptions, those descriptions and that content can help someone determine if they want to make a purchase. Offer services or run a blog? Articles and blog posts help build up your customer base or reader base. One of the things that helps people decide if they will return to a website or not is how good their content is. On top of pleasing website visitors, your content can also help the search engines decide if your website is valuable or not. Given that website content plays such a large influence on both website traffic, sales and SEO, is it time to clean up your website’s content?

The answer is yes if any of the following is true:

  • There are spelling or grammar mistakes
  • Your website’s articles or blog posts are too short to provide value
  • Your website’s content isn’t easy to read
  • If you’re selling products, the product descriptions don’t include important information or the product isn’t described well enough
  • The content is outdated or no longer relevant
  • The format isn’t good (break things up into paragraphs, headings and sub-headings to make content flow better)
  • The text is too small
  • The text is too large
  • The contrast is too high between the text color and the website’s background color

Another consideration when it comes to content is whether or not you’re using just text; inserting images, videos and other types of content can help refresh things and generate a new interest in your website.

You don’t need to go through your content daily, but if once or twice a year you give it a glance, it will help your website and the information contained on it relevant to both visitors and the search engines.
