Is Your Business’s Social Media Circle Complete?

When you think about using social media for your business, the first two platforms that come to mind is usually Facebook and Twitter. While these are both good platforms to help you promote your business, they are not the only social media networks that you can be a part of. Also, social media isn’t just secluded to networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other similar services where you can post information. A lot of times, a business will take advantage of social media to help promote their business online, but they don’t take full advantage of it. Let’s go over the social media circle to see if your business is completing it.

The unfortunate side to social media is that it’s not static. For example, if you update your status on Facebook stating your business is having a sale, you are probably going to update your status again after that post. What happens to your sale status then? It gets pushed down or over on the page and customers may miss it. For this reason, you should try to keep all social aspects of your business updated. If you’re having a sale and you post it on Facebook and Twitter, don’t forget to post it on your website’s blog as well if you have one.

Speaking of blogs, did you know that a blog is also considered social? Website visitors can make comments on what your business posts and then you can interact with customers or potential customers right on your website. However, since Facebook and Twitter are so popular, businesses often forget to keep their blog updated or they don’t participate in the conversation being left on their own websites! You’re going to have customers who visit your website that don’t participate in social media websites, but they might participate on your own website. It’s important to not miss this opportunity.

Video services like YouTube and Vimeo are often thought of as entertainment websites where people can go and watch videos of their choosing. However, these platforms are also social- they have a built in commenting system where you can interact with people to help promote your business. On top of that, you can upload videos that are about your business, your products or your services.

In short, if you use social media to promote yourself or your online business, don’t forget about other social aspects of the web to help complete the circle. Facebook and Twitter are great tools, but they are just two platforms out of the many that provide opportunities to businesses who want to market online.
