I recently ran a 3hr workshop on outsourcing, funny considering the book that brought a lot of people up to date with the possibilities is called the 4 hr Workweek.
One of the things that i have discovered is that most ‘real world’ businesses will never experience the 4 hr workweek no matter how much they outsource. It’s not really as simple as it sounds because someone still has to do the work, manage the work and get the work. This is expecially true in the case of professional or service industries – I can’t really see a plumber sending a blocked drain to India to get it cleared. (tongue in cheek).
Outsourcing is a powerful tool if you choose the correct projects, write your briefs properly and find a worker/team who can do the jobs as you like them done.
Don’t give up on outsourcing, I have over 45 staff all working for me yet none in my office so it is possible.
